White Screen Death
-
First, I apologize if I already asked this to someone and created multiple requests for help (I am honestly not sure if I did.)
What happened:
1) I was having trouble changing my password..after a few tries i was able to.
2) then I couldn’t log in.
3) i requested an email link to log in so now I can log in, but have a white screen only
4) I went to support & forums but not sure what went through as I didn’t get an email reply.
5) this happened after I ordered something on JC Pennys. which seems to now be on my site.
6) I do not use WordPress logins.
7) I only see a white screen but others have told me my site looks fine.Panicking,
MartieThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Martie,
7) I only see a white screen but others have told me my site looks fine.
Oh! Are you seeing a white screen when visiting https://books6259.wordpress.com?
Or are you seeing a white screen when logging in to https://wordpress.com and trying to manage the site from your account?
Just let me know and we can go from there.
Thanks!
-
Yes, to when I enter https://books6259.wordpress.com. But I can see notification bell and respond to likes or comments.
Not sure how to answer the WorPress log in. When I click in that way it brings me to my Manage Sites wall, which I can see. But if I then click to view my site it becomes a white screen.
I do hope that helps and thanks for getting back to me.

Hi Martie,
When I click in that way it brings me to my Manage Sites wall, which I can see. But if I then click to view my site it becomes a white screen.
If you haven’t done so already, please try clearing your browser cache:
Then clear your WordPress.com cookies:
Does that help or are you still unable to view the site?
Let me know how you get on.

I thought I did, but maybe not. I’m not so great at this. I’ll try again, but this time using your links.

gemmacevans,
okay, i did it again (correctly this time with the help of your links) and I think i’m gonna cry…still a white screen. The only difference is that my face image attempts to show but then goes back into WSD. Why to they have to call it Death. Makes me feel like all hope is lost.

Also, I seem to be able to write a book review but I cannot add it to my bibliography due to that damn white screen. And of course due to WSD I can not see it on my own site.:-(
-
Martie – What happens if you use a different browser? Or a different internet connection? Have you restarted the device?
-
When I log in on my iPhone the page is there. When I log in on my laptop the screen is still white
Thx panicking Martie -

Are you still there? I haven’t heard from anyone since yesterday morning and I did all the suggestions, answered your questions but still in WSD.
-
Hi Martie,
I see Liz suggested trying another browser on your laptop, did you have any luck with that?
It’s good to hear the site is loading on your iPhone! Is it connected to a different network? (e.g. not your home internet connection)?
-
Morning,
Sorry, I forgot to mention that I can see it on my laptop when opening with a different browser as well as my iphone. And in Chrome, my default, I already cleared all in Chrome settings as well as in WordPress. What is the next step?
THANK YOU for replying,
Martie -
I spent a few hours trying different attempts to fix the issue. I believe that I did by uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome. Thanks.

Hi Martie,
I spent a few hours trying different attempts to fix the issue. I believe that I did by uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome.
Great news! If reinstalling Chrome resolved the issue, this suggests the problem may have been caused by a browser extension or perhaps an outdated version of Chrome.
I’m glad you’ve got this sorted now but we’ll be here if you need any further help.
