White Screen (New User)?

    Hi,

I started a WordPress Blog in April, entitled ‘A Canvas A Day’. It sees me upload two photographs per day, with a little text. Over the past few months, visitors to my site have been unable to view the content on my homepage; which should display a thumbnail picture of each day’s canvas design; almost like the photos were to be laid out in a grid. They can follow links and view each day’s post, and view the same if they click where a photograph should be. The closest thing I could find online was the notion of a ‘White Page of Death’. I also thought this may be related to memory usage, as I use a free version of WordPress. My iOS app tells me that I have used 29% of my 3GB allowance, leading me to discount this from the equation. Any help that you can give, or any suggestions as to a remedy; would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks

    A Canvas A Day

    Hi,

I found that your front page loads on my desktop PC screen, but very slowly. My internet service is somewhere in the snail’s pace range of the spectrum so that’s part of the explanation. The other part is too much content on a single page. You may reduce that content by limiting the number of posts displayed on a page to something less the present 150 posts per page setting.

You’ll find the “posts per page” setting at My Site(s) > Settings > Writing > Content types. This setting not only affects the blog page, but also all archives pages such as year, month, and date archives, category and tag archives, author archives, etc. See the Writing Settings support page. The Content Types section of the support page includes an illustration that shows the blog posts per page setting. The number can be changed by simply clicking on the up/down arrows. When you’ve reached the desired number, save the change.

    Hi Musicdoc1,

Thank you for your suggestion, it seems to have solved the problem. As a new user, I had no idea where to start. Thanks for the kind comments about my work.

    Best wishes,
