White space on right side of screen in mobile view
-
I am using the Hever theme by Automatic and on mobile view for this theme there is a large white space on the right side of the screen. I tried using some code that would cut off any overflow, but that did not work so I believe it may be a problem with the theme. Please let me know if there is any code/plugins I could use to fix this problem without changing my theme. Thanks!

Hi there!
To be able to use custom CSS, you’d need to upgrade your plan at least to Premium.
Could you share a screenshot of what exactly do you mean though? We may be able to offer an alternative. You can use an online tool for adding the screenshot (such as https://snipboard.io/), or follow the instructions described here:
https://wordpress.com/support/make-a-screenshot/. -
I have a Premium plan on an alternate version of this site, so I am able to use custom CSS. When on mobile view, I can scroll right and there is a large empty white space that is not there when viewing the site on a desktop. Here is a screenshot of what it looks like when I scroll to the right: Screenshot of issue

I’m not seeing the same emulating an iPhone in my browser (we can’t reach your site with real mobile devices as long as it’s private).
Specifically what kind of mobile device are you using for this?

Sorry, I linked my alternate site, if you visit https://earththeenvironmentandyou.org you should be able to visit the site on your phone. I used both an iPhone 5s and an iPhone 7, and the problem was still present.

Hi there,
I can see the issue on your site, but I don’t see the issue on my test site if I install the self-hosted version of this theme, nor does it happen at all on the WordPress.com version of the theme.
This means something specific to your site is causing this. The first thing we need to rule out is a plugin conflict, so can you disable all plugins on your site to see if that helps? If it does, re-enable them one at a time until that extra space appears again to narrow down which one is causing it.
Let us know the result.

The next thing you can try is do a clean install of the theme.
First, switch your site to a default theme like Twenty Twenty.
Then completely delete Hever and Varia from your site. I’d recommend you delete the folders themselves via FTP at your host – they’ll be located in
wp-content/themes/. Then download and install both themes, and activate Hever again. If that still doesn’t work, delete the themes again. Next install the Jetpack plugin on your site and connect it to WordPress.com. Then install Hever from the WordPress.com interface instead by activating it at My Site ->Design ->Themes. That will help rule out if this might be a difference between the version Jetpack installs, and the version you downloaded directly. There shouldn’t be any difference between the two, but that’s the only other thing I can think of at this point.
