Whitelisted
-
My website is currently on under construction mode and recently, while trying to edit my website, there is a notification that says ‘Under Construction Mode is enabled but you are whitelisted so you see the normal site’. Please advise what it means by me being whitelisted and how do I remove being whitelisted?

Hi There,
Could you please share your website’s URL so that we can assist in the right direction?
If you are using the self-hosted version of WordPress, then you can log your query at this forum:-

Hi there!
Please note that your site is using the WordPress.org software and is hosted by Siteground. We aren’t able to provide direct support for sites using WordPress.org as this forum is for WordPress.com sites. If you aren’t sure about the differences, please check out this page: WordPress.com vs WordPress.org.
You’d want to post on the WordPress.org support forum for help with your WordPress.org site: https://wordpress.org/support/forums
Based on the message you shared, I think ‘whitelisted’ means that you are allowed to see the site as you’re logged in even though the site has an Under Construction Mode active, preventing other people from seeing it.
If you have more questions specific to this, please contact the Under Construction Mode’s plugin support folks for help as they’re most familiar with their plugin.
Regards

Thank you for your responses. Every time I try to log into WordPress.org, it says it doesn’t recognize my email or username, which I saved the log in information when I first signed up. Does this have to do with me being whitelisted? My site has been under construction for a while now and I’ve never seen the whitelisted notification until now. Between having WooCommerce and SiteGround to run my websites, is there a need for WordPress? Especially if WP won’t even let me log in and there’s no way to contact a representative to help me. I’m a little confused on it’s purpose and would like to simply move forward with rebuilding and reopening my website. Any help or advice would be highly appreciated.

We’ll need to clarify this a bit more. Please take the time to review the information below in detail. It should be everything you need to know right now.
Your WordPress site is hosted with SiteGround. Because you are paying them for hosting, they will be the first resource you reach out to for help with questions like you have above. Here is the link to their support page:

Between having WooCommerce and SiteGround to run my websites, is there a need for WordPress?
WordPress is the backbone of your entire website. You need it in order for WooCommerce and the rest of your website to function. It all lives on SiteGround’s servers so that you and the rest of the world can access your website on the Internet.
Whitelisted
The answer to what this term means is in the explanation you provided in your original post.
‘Under Construction Mode is enabled but you are whitelisted so you see the normal site’.This means the website is hidden to everyone on the Internet BUT you. This is a way of hiding your site behind an “Under Construction” notice while you work on it behind the scenes. Once you are ready to launch your website, you would then disable the “Under Construction Mode”. If you need help disabling this feature, please contact SiteGround support.
In the event SiteGround tells you that your questions go beyond the scope of their support, you will then reach out for help within the WordPress community support forums here: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ – It’s important to note that is an entirely separate site from your own site. This means your WordPress site login will not work on the WordPress.org community support forums.
