Who can see my blog?
-
I told a friend that I have a (email visible only to moderators and staff).
They are not a member, do not have an account, don’t want to sign up to view my blog.
Can they still read and post comments on my blog?In the options I removed the checkmark from the option “must registar in wordpress in order to post comments”, so can any Tom, Dick and Hardeep enter my address and participate?
Cheers,

If you have unchecked this box then “yes” theoretically anyone whether or not they have a wrodpress blog can leave comments on your blog.
*BUT* dashboard -> options -> discussion
On this page you can check the boxes to enable you to moderate your comments. This gives you the control of being notified of comments by email before they are posted. You will then have the advance option of reviewing them, deferring them, approving them, deleting them, editing them, or marking them as spam before they are posted.
The person who leaves the comment will see what they wrote briefly but then it will disappear until you moderate it and make the decisions. If you do not choose to moderate your comments you run the risk of having people instantly and automatically posting off colour comments, personal attacks, obscentities, racist statements, abusive statements, etc. to your blog that you may not become immediately aware of.
It’s true that you can delete them later but that would only be after you see them. Another risk inherent in not moderating comments is the risk of un-caught spam getting posted. (An unlikely event as akismet works so well but it’s still possible.)
It’s my position that my blog is like my home wherein I am the hostess. In my home and on my blog I do not allow the posting of personal attacks, obscenities, racist remarks, etc. To ensure that cannot happen I moderate all comments.
It’s my understanding that most people are so eager to encourage comments that they are willing to run these risks, therefore they do not moderate their comments.
In the final analysis it’s your choice and the discussion page is the page where you can check the boxes reflecting your choice.

Maureen – just a minor point, your blog address is
http://maureengrealish.wordpress.com/
Note there’s no www. as you posted above – if you put it in it won’t work.
And yes, anyone can see your blog. You can password protect posts (do it in the “write post” or “manage post” screens) and then share the password only with those who you want to have it.
Then, as TT says turn on comment moderation.
