The New Sharing Options Thread

Hi markel
Very well, thank you very much!
Even without counter box it’s better, in my opinion of course. And yes you are right, I see that Facebook is encouraging people not to use the Share button anymore and instead to use the Like button, I really don’t understand why, but anyway I prefer the share button.
So, markel, thank you again for what have you done about it.
Cheers

Hi markel, thanks a lot for this new option!
I’m using it for search more information on Wikipedia and find related images and videos, and of course to share the posts and the pages.
I´m having a problem with the services hidden in the share button. They appear cutted:
<img src=”http://justicesofthequorum.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/cutted.png”>
I´m using “icon only” button style and doing this the services appears too separated. Can be possible that they appear like this?:
<img src=”http://justicesofthequorum.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/possible.png”>
In the services added by ourselves appears only “Click to share”. Can be possible that appears the label of the service instead? Thanks a lot for all!

I’m fed up with no admin responding to me.My html codes aren’t being fully accepted
when using them. Someone is deselecting my nested tags. And adds different colors for my fonts, and deletes my background color. -
MarKel,
I kind of liked the Facebook share counter. Its the one social network I’m most active on…and the number of shares is the most. I would like to display that with my share button….
I hope you guys can bring back the facebook share button counter. I loved it!
i know, as you all have mentioned that facebook is discouraging the share button…..but I and most of the people in my network love it and use it on their wordpress.org blogs.!
Why cant we just be given an option like with the other smart share buttons….to show the count or not. That way we can all individually decide to display our count or not…?? -

Those are interesting suggestions (and the first one is an interesting problem), so I’ll pass them along.

Are you sure this is a question about the Sharing options? If you are having another problem with your site, please send us a Support request at http://support.wordpress.com/contact/. Keep in mind that there are code restrictions in place on WordPress.com.
I hope you guys can bring back the facebook share button counter.
Because the Like button is the preferred suggestion moving forward, the counter won’t be coming back to the Share button.

By the way, this was released as a plugin for self-hosted WordPress—called Sharedaddy—so if you like this feature and have self-hosted blogs, you can now add it there, too.

The Share buttons HTML is not compatible with Kubrick’s CSS. It shows “»” before each phrase and button. Example here:
I’m trying to remove them through Custom CSS but am not having any luck right now. Could somebody help? Thanks!

Sharing options, in the first instance wasnt clear why this media was all in the same place… used to messing around with source code. Plus the option to re-tweet etc, arent available on summarization of posts, defeating the purpose a bit!?

We’re aware of this and it is on our list of things to fix.

You can change this by going into Settings > Sharing and setting them to appear on both posts and index pages.
Once a new button is added will other users be able to access that button?
No; if you add a custom sharing service, it is available only for you.

I looked through the posts and apologize if I missed the answer to this.
The Share button has been installed with all the services and is set to show up on post + index pages. When I roll over the share button, the box of services comes up, but I also get a site preview box with a 404 File Not Found Error message. Is there a setting I missed somewhere or is something else wrong?
-
We’re trying add Share this as new share service, but it doesn’t seem to take. Any workarounds? We already have addthis, but it has so many options and we like the share this service better. Also, anyone figured out how to add LinkedIN as a new share service?

It sounds like the site snapshot service we use (for links) and your Share options are colliding somehow. I’ve tried to reproduce this but can’t.
Where are you hovering the mouse pointer?

I don’t think ShareThis can be added as a service, since it’s a sharing service of its own. I’m not sure about that, though.
LinkedIn requires a link in this format:
http://www.linkedin.com/shareArticle?url=%post_url%&title=%post_title%&summary=%post_excerpt%(I think. Test it and let me know how it goes.)

The “Share” option/link isn’t appearing under my Settings tab. I’ve tried reinstalling 3.0.1 and installing all updates but it still isn’t showing up. Can’t get past step 1!
Is this happening to anyone else? Are there any settings that could be interfering with this option showing up? I’m running the Thesis theme.
Thanks for any help!

This forum and the services and options that are normally described here refer only to blogs hosted on WordPress.com and not to self-hosted blogs—the Sharing controls are not part of the stock self-hosted installation.
There is a plugin for this—search for “Sharedaddy” in the plugin repository in your Dashboard and you will find it. If you need support with it, we cannot provide it here; you will need to visit the self-hosted support forums at http://wordpress.org/support/.

Under the”Sharing Settings” are no default services listed. Except the email and print service. I have the css upgrade, should this be a reason?
Thanks
