Who is in charge of customer service?
-
We recently paid $99 for a WordPress.com package to build a blogging site for an online food critic site. It has come to our attention within the first week of casually coming online to the forums to create our site that WordPress.com does not allow us to post advertisements of our own onto the site (such as from local restaurants and the like). While I understand WordPress’ stance on the subject, it really wasn’t made clear to us that we couldn’t do this until after we paid for the service. Who do we contact regarding getting our money back since a major reason why we want to have a site is to sell advertisements on the site?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I thought that was made clear here > http://store.wordpress.com/bundles/ and here http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
As you may wish to retain the domain name and get a partial refund I tagged this thread for a Staff follow-up.
Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrades, you can request a refund from your dashboard.
WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.

If applicable also see http://en.support.wordpress.com/bundles/#canceling-a-bundleNote: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.

Actually it was made clear – you clicked on a box that said you agreed to the Terms of service – sorry you can’t read
Dashboard >> Store >> My Upgrades >> get a refund there –

Thank you timethief for the well-thought out and non-insulting response. Reading fine print in the terms of service isn’t exactly something that is listed clearly, but I appreciate the response nonetheless auxclass.

Please don’t act immediately on the refund if you want to retain the domain you purchased through WordPress.com, as Staff can help with a partial refund so you don’t lose the domain name.

I just was able to find the my upgrades section and according to the site will be getting a partial refund that does not include the domain name, which I think is what you’re saying timethief. Once again, thank you for your help.

Howdy,
I’m sorry about the confusion regarding ads on your site. You’re right—you can refund everything except the domain name at this point, which is for the best as if you cancel the domain now it could be weeks before it is returned to the marketplace.
You can still, though, point your domain to another service including a WordPress site hosted on your own server. More information about options there can be found at http://get.wp.com/hosting
If you need any assistance, please let me know. In addition to the forums, you can also contact staff directly via http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/
At this point, it looks like the refund has not yet been processed. When canceling, you’ll have an e-mail confirmation that needs to be clicked on to finalize the process. If you need assistance, please do let me know.
Thanks for trying WordPress.com and wish you the best.

WordPress.com is a very very low cost registrar – so you come out ahead on that
I did read the TOS, several times actually as there were a few parts that were very legal stuff (license to display was tough) – so I was a bit slow to move the site linked to my name here –
I have a couple of friends that read the TOS and went elsewhere because they wanted to put ads on their site (not sure they have broke even yet)
I have other friends that read the TOS and had no problem and now have blogs here – I am helping a friend set up their personal services site here –
On the bight side – you found out about the ads before you got started and had your site suspended – you will be inconvenienced for a few days with the refund and such, but will not have lost a lot of work.
And you got a lesson in fine print – and yes I don’t read all the fine print – but I did here –
Just a side note – on most software that you buy – you don’t really own it you are sort of renting it –
Good luck luck with your blog
