Who is wordpress.com; wordpress mu; wordpress.org?

    I’ve been using wordpress for more than a month already and there are questions came to my mind which i cannot answer. I know this is inappropriate to post a topic as this one but i need it clearly before doing a task here.

    Actually this post is related to CSS and plug-ins but before i proceed, let me ask this questions. Who’s wordpress.com, wordpress mu, and wordpress.org? What are their functions? I just wanna know it clearly.

    The truth is, i wanna upgrade to custom css. But my problem is, where to start? i’ve been reading forums about plug-ins, wp2.0 2.2. what are these?

    I’ve read forums to the mentioned above topics but still, i don’t know which is first to understand. Can anyone give me a piece of advise regarding the said issues?
