Who links to my blog?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi.
I’m quite possibly missing something obvious, but in looking at all the options and widgets and stats etc, I can’t see if there is any way of seeing who links to my blog. When I view the stats pages, I can see who has clicked in and from where, but is there an option which shows who currently links to me?

Technorati.com is the best way. You can also see it in Incoming Links, although that’s very, very touch and go. It is from Google Blogsearch and I recommend you go to their site to use it; the Incoming Links section of stats just doesn’t seem to work very well much of the time, displaying weeks-old data.

that should be appearing at the bottom right side of your stats, labelled under incoming links. if you can’t see it, maybe it’s because you haven’t received one yet?

oh, if you’re talking about people adding your blog to their blogroll, you should be able to see that in the referrer stats. i’m one of them. =)

The links won’t generally show up until someone clicks through them. That’s why I always click on all the links when I post a new article.

@ raincoaster: I did see a link from technorati – just I’m not sure about how a lot of these sites work yet. The world moves a lot faster than my mind does ;) Interestingly, when I went there just now, it shows links to tags that I have since removed.

yes, I did see that. :) And that was what I was really asking, but raincoaster gave some info that I hadn’t considered.

I can’t see anything that looks like “Incoming links”. I can see “Referers” and “Search Engine Terms” on the left-hand side and “Tops posts” and “Clicks” on the right hand side of the stats page.
    Is “Incoming Links” a default?

And, if I’m reading this right, we can only see the most recent links – going back for seven days? Is there any way to extend this out?

Thanks for the prompt answers BTW :)

    @raincoaster.

[“The links won’t generally show up until someone clicks through them. That’s why I always click on all the links when I post a new article.”]

Sorry – I’m a bit dense – what do you mean by this?

If someone makes a link to you, you won’t see it until somebody clicks on that link and gets to your blog. If the link just sits there and is never clicked on, only a bot will see it and I don’t think WordPress.com uses those.

Ahh – OK, I see now. Thanks. :)

you get incoming links when someone puts a specific url from your blog into their post. this means they linked you through the latest post. since your blog is quite new, i guess nobody has linked to you in posts yet.

You can also use your favorite search engine and drop the following into the search bar:

    link:matariki.wordpress.com

MSN seems to do a quicker and more complete cound of those than Google does just for reference.
