Who owns flipboard.wordpress.com?

  I work at Flipboard and we need to relocate our blog back to WordPress from WPEngine due to AML restrictions. I want to use flipboard.wordpress.com but it states that it is reserved. I can provide as much proof is needed to make this happen. Even the email account would be a huge help so I can go talk to them to get the credentials.

  When we register a username account the matching blog is reserved for our future use. It cannot be obtained by anyone other than the person who has registered the matching username account. I’m sorry but Staff will not provide the email address for the person with the username account because doing so would breach the privacy policy.

  It looks like there’s a user with the username ‘flipboard’ so we cannot release the associated WordPress.com website address.

  You might try registering something like flipboardus.wordpress.com or a similar name, and then you can register a custom domain and map it to WordPress.com so that your underlying wp.com address isn’t visible.
