who owns livechat pluggin data?

Hiya,
I want to set up a support service for vulnerable members of an LGBTQAI+ community with a live chat pluggin.
1. is this only possible with the business plan?
2. is the content of the chat stored securely on wordpress servers or does it depend on the plugin?
3. who owns this data and can it be sold if it is owned by wordpress?
4. does anyone have recommended chat feature plugins for this type of activity?

1. If you are planning to host your site with us then yes you would need to purchase the business plan in order to use plugins.
2. Your sites are well-protected here at WordPress.com. We monitor potentially harmful activity to ensure there is no unauthorized access to your content.
3. If you are the owner of the site you will own your data. However, if there is ever a case of copyright infringement or something that is Illegal and against WordPress Privacy and Terms of Service. Then WordPress has the right to terminate your account and/or remove the illegal content.
4. I can’t recommend any but you can view a full list of chat plugins that are included within the business plan.

We have a single chatbox widget (no upgrade required) that will operate on WordPress.COM hosted sites. The Tlk.io widget allows you to embed a web chat in your WordPress.COM hosted blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/tlk-io-widget/ There are no other chat options I know of that work on WordPress.COM blogs at this time.

Users have always been the best way to gauge the quality of plugins. A few steps such as reading the reviews of users who have used the plugin, checking to see if the plugin is regularly updated, and checking that support for the plugin is active are all ways to determine the best plugin. Here is a good article on vetting plugins.
Also – is it possible to switch domain names on a single plan?
You can definitely add or switch a custom domain to a particular plan. After 48 hours, domain purchases are not refundable, so you would have to purchase your new domain in order to switch it with your current domain. If you want to connect the new domain to your plan, feel free to contact us after you purchase the upgrade and we’ll be happy to make that update for you.
