Who owns my domain name?

    This is what I see when I run a whois check on the domain I purchased through wordpress.

    “Please note: the owner of the domain name is specified in the “registrant” field.
    In most cases, the Registrar is not the owner of domain names listed in this database.
    Registrant:
    Domains By Proxy, LLC
    Registered through: Automattic
    Domain Name: MARKETING4CHANGE.COM
    Domain servers in listed order:
    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM

    I thought I was purchasing the domain name through WP but nowhere in this record is their any indication that Marketing for Change Ltd (or I) own it.

    Could you clarify? I have other domain names registered through HostPAPA and others and when I run the same checks the report clearly states that the domain is registered to Marketing for Change or me as an individual.

    That domain is registered under your account, which means you are the owner. You’ve also purchased the Private Registration upgrade. This upgrade hides your personal information when doing a whois request on your domain.
