Who should map to whom?
-
I want to keep my email provider and allow them to forward a custom domain to my wordpress blog. That provider is asking for my blog’s DNS information. What I’m seeing – and needing confirmation on – is that I can not in fact do this. What I actually need to do is get the DNS information from my provider and pay WordPress $13 a year to map to the custom URL and email. Yes?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

yes that works best, forward & mask will forever hide your custom domain name, mapping the custom domain name is the best (the site linked to my name is domain mapped here)
Email is a bit tricky as each host has their own way of doing things and each host has a bit different format for the same records, then add that many hosts are not familiar with using their email system with a site on another host – so now that I have scared you a bit – it can be done, but sometimes it takes a bit – you need to get the info from your email host – if you get confused – post what your host sends you and usually someone here can help or we can refer you to the staff for help

Start here for email – but you will probably need to click to another page for most specific info
