Why 2 interfaces?

  • Unknown's avatar

Context: I have a Premium plan, and the Libre 2 theme is installed. I’ve customized the menu but not by much I don’t think.

Can someone please explain what’s going on? My domain is mapped. But it looks like I’m editing one set of pages at homebirthstories.wordpress.com and one set of pages at homebirthstories.ca

Two sets of pages, two separate interfaces??

Domain name/wp-admin gets me to the domain.wordpress.com interface. I don’t like this one :-(

To get to the other one, I have to go via the My Site icon in the top left corner. This is the interface I like and want to work in.

I discovered this when I tried to figure out why the Visual/HTML tab combo–the one I want–kept magically becoming the Visual/Text combo.

When I preview the site itself, it looks right. (Rough yet, but right.)

Sorry if this basic and boomerish. I used to write websites in html and css. Not quite in Notepad, but definitely in code view. I’ve been away from online publishing for several years and I’m blundering about a bit :-(

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

So you don’t want to use https://homebirthstories.wordpress.com/wp-admin/, correct?

https://homebirthstories.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ and https://homebirthstories.ca/wp-admin/ are the same thing. That’s the standard admin interface that comes with the open source WordPress software.

What you see when you click on My Sites is a new, simplified interface we designed specifically for WordPress.com. The only ways to reach that interface is to click on My Site, or to click the Edit link appearing directly on your posts and pages when you view your site.

I hope that clarifies things, but please let me know if it doesn’t.

And if there’s something specific you’re unsure what to do, we’re happy to help with that as well if you can give us some more details on what you want to do.
