Why am I being asked to pay when I’m on a free package?

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m being asked to pay for my webpage that I’ve had as a free one for over two years now! Why? Also, I cant access it if I type in the domain name as it’s allocated a domain name with lots of numbers after the original one, again, why? If I type in elizabethscatergood.com it says ‘server cannot be found’ when it used to go directly to my page immediately. Why? I’m seriously considering deleting my page and going to another site for free instead as I’m just fed up of people emailing me telling me they cannot access my webpage anymore which is often. HELP!! and soon please. I have my own domain so I don’t need to purchase one from you either.

    Hi,

To use elizabethscatergood.com on WordPress.com you would have an upgraded WordPress.com plan and added a domain mapping subscription. Here is the info on domain mapping:

    https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/

Your original WordPress.com domain is functioning at the moment:

    elizabethscattergood997825433.wordpress.com

A Staff member will be able to advise on the account status.

  • Hi –

I’ve reviewed the account that you’re writing to us from. The domain mentioned hasn’t ever been used on that account. I can’t actually find it in our system at all. Do you know if you were using the other version of WordPress instead? That’s the open source software called WordPress.org.

As mentioned, you do have a free site on your account which is elizabethscattergood997825433.wordpress.com and you can continue using that with out needing to make any purchases.

If you want to connect elizabethscatergood.com then an upgraded hosting plan is required. That’s not a new requirement. https://wordpress.com/pricing/
