Why am I getting hits on a private-blog?

I set up a blog that is restricted and invitation-only. There are only about 12 people that have been invited to view it and only 1 has registered to do so…the blog is THAT new…

..however, my blogcount is showing 90+ hits already in the first 12 hours and it is SUPPOSED to be restricted to invite-only.

So where are these hits coming from?

This is a SERIOUS issue for me, as the blog is set up as a Beta-Read version of a novel I have been working on, and I do NOT want it exposed to the public. The blog is intended for my personally-designated/hired Beta-Readers to read the book and give me feedback on the blog.

But if people who I do not know are reading the thing, I need to know so I can remove the blog immediately.

First let me confirm that your blog is indeed private, and can’t be accessed by anyone except approved users.

Hits are counted on every page load, so for every page (or post) a reader reads, a hit is counted. Since you have many posts on your site, hits can add up quite quickly.
