Why am I getting text prompts?
-
For the last 3 days on my blog when I go to write a post there is an automatic paragraph line with a question/prompt. No idea why, the question is irrelevant to my blog. What’s worse, I don’t use the paragraph function at the top of the page like that so I have to delete it every single time I write a new post, which is daily. I’ve seen other people ask where this came from with different themes, I have no plugins on my free site, hoping someone can help.
This only happens on my one blog and not my other webpage.

Thanks for sharing your feedback on the prompts.
We recently introduced this feature with writing prompts display to encourage users to publish posts. Normally they should act as a placeholder which you can just type directly over – do you find you are not able to just type over the prompt?I have also shared your feedback about this with my team.

Hi 95percent, appreciate your response.
The new block does act as a placeholder, and when I start typing it does goes away. However, on my site, under the Title block I do not use the paragraph block, I instead use a column block and then start 2 paragraph blocks within it. This means that the auto-prompt has to get manually deleted or else the column block is shifted farther down the page than it’s supposed to be. It’s also irritating leaving the prompt there and seeing words I did not enter myself.
Just a thought – you can’t see the prompt unless you’ve already pressed the “Write” button, so how is it encouraging people to publish more often? They’re being encouraged to do the thing they were about to do anyway? Strange logic to me.
Is there a way to opt out? Or at least change the first paragraph to have the “Insert block [+]” icon so I don’t have to manually delete it each morning? I’m never going to use the prompt, (they’re all really strange anyway), and currently it’s just adding extra steps to my daily morning blog post. Thanks for responding!

At this moment, there isn’t an opt-out, but our development team is working on adding one to the Writing settings in the wp-admin view. Once that’s added, it’ll be found here:
https://oddchome.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-writing.php
Hopefully, we’ll see that added within the week so for the time being you will need to manually remove it.
Thanks again for your feedback!

Just updating you to let you know it’s there now under Writing Options in wp-admin, as well as in Calypso at this link: https://wordpress.com/settings/writing/
Cheers!
