Domain Late Renewal Fee for yourhomehealthsolutions.com One-time payment of $80??
I had this domain for a year, then didn’t renew it right away. I went in to do and am being told about this huge fee. I haven’t had this with any other blog I’ve managed. What is this charge?

Hello! This fee is charged by the domain registry for domain redemption and is not one which we can waive.
If you do not wish to pay the $80 fee you may let the domain expiration process continue and attempt to register the domain again at the regular price once it has expired completely.
Domain expiration is a lengthy and complicated process that takes about 80 days. During this time, your domain may be put up for auction or sold on back-order. You can learn more about domain expiration here:
Please note that someone else may purchase the domain first, in which case you will be unable to register it again, but if you prefer this option just let us know and we’ll be happy to provide you further instructions.
Let me know if you have any more questions!

I don’t understand why this applies. I have had domain names lapse before and have just been able to reinstate them. Is this a new process? If it hasn’t been un-mapped — because that will take 80 days — then why can’t I just get it reinstated?

There is a short grace period after a domain expires. If you renew during this period, there is no additional fee. This period usually lasts for one to two weeks. However, your domain is 42 days expired.
This fee is not related to your domain mapping, but with your domain registration with ICANN. This fee has been in place for quite a while and there’s no way to avoid it if you want to retrieve the domain without letting it finish the expiration process.
