Why am I not allowed to delete my account?
-
Hello. I would like to know the reason behind WordPress refusing to delete accounts alltogether. I want to have as few logs on the internet as possible. I have deleted all my blogs, and I do not want an account on WordPress servers attached to my e-mail address to exist. So what is the purpose of storing this information? Thank you in advance for the answer, best regards.

The reason for not deleting accounts is so that someone else cannot create an account under your username and thus impersonate you, so ultimately it’s for our protection.
If you’re concerned about personal information, everything that you entered under your user/gravatar profile can be removed by you, so the only information WordPress keeps is your email address. If you change that to a throwaway address they won’t even keep your real one. See timethief’s reply in this thread for instructions on how to render your account effectively inactive: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/delete-account-276?replies=2
