why am I not "linking" when I write in the body of my post

I have a new computer (MacPro). On my old one, whenever I would write for example http://www.instituteforlearning.org, or an email address, it would automatically light up as a link. Any idea why that is not happening for me now? I just made my first post on this computer, and noticed this.
I think I don’t have the lingo to explain correctly, but hope it’s clear what I’m asking. Thanks for any help

There are a couple of ways to add links to your posts or pages. You can use either the Visual editor or the HTML editor. Please see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/#how-to-create-links-in-a-post-or-page
Basic Link format:

Example active link: this time – this space
