why am I not receiving new blog post notifications?
-
Since the latest app upgrade on November 17th, I no longer receive e mail notifications of new posts on the blogs I follow. I have been to the ‘manage sites’ option and switched on
‘Instant’ notification but am only receiving new blog posts in the app reader. Any help gratefully received. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @debgarretty, I noticed two emails were sent today. Can you confirm whether you’ve received them?
-
Hi. No I didn’t. I only found out about the yarnutopia and very berry posts by checking my reader.
Thanks. -
Okay, can you check with your mail provider to see whether they’re filtering the emails somehow? I’ve confirmed those were delivered.

Hi. I can’t seem to find where the e mails are. They are not available in any of my folders (including trash). As I can’t get any further with talktalk I have unsubscribed from all the blogs and resubscribed with my iCloud email address. I have also created a new WordPress account using this new e mail address and altered my username etc. I will delete my old WordPress account now I have contacted you. Thank you for looking into this matter. Kind Regards
Deborah Garretty

Hi @debgarretty, you are also welcome to just change the email address on file here:
https://wordpress.com/me/accountJust note you’ll need to use an address that is not in use by another account.

I raised this issue 26th Nov separately and thank Elizabeth & Sheri for their advice.
My ISP is Talktalk and use Windows Live as email agent and have set up whitelisting on that and ‘Home Safe’ as advised – absolutely no effect!
Have just emailed TT’s internet abuse team for help pointing out their filtering is no different to the criminal hacking they’re trying to recover from!
-
That’s good to know, @rjaybee .
@debgarretty — would you consider registering another email address for use, if talktalk won’t allow the email through?
-
Hi, I have registered another e mail address and have had no problems with that. I guess the problem lies at TT’s end. Thanks for all your help.

After WP engineers provided their internet routing report TT Abuse Response Team stated “I can confirm that our network team have advised that we are not blocking anything”!!
This seriously begs the questions: what, where and who is not only stopping incoming emails but also producing false reporting??? It seems to suggest presence of a pervasive cybercriminal activity. Surely someone should be able to investigate and examine. Perhaps GCHQ?
Next step is to inform UK comms regulator and Internet Watch Foundation as well as alert users/friends through national/international contacts.
-
@rjaybee, our logs show their servers accepting the mail, which rules out anything happening between here and there. You might have them check their logs to see if they have record of receiving and routing it. You could also ask them to walk you through any possible client-side filters you may have configured. Good luck!
-
Thanks supernovia, have just enquired but don’t expect news as last night spoke to a friend who’s a network engineer and he says that TalkTalk’s customer database was hacked in October because they’re not professionally ‘up to scratch’!!
-
That’s too bad. I’ll close this thread since we can’t do anything else from this end. But if anyone else needs to research our end of this, please open a new thread and we will. Cheers, all!
