Why am I paying bluehost for hosting?
-
I have two active blogs that are used as business websites.
The first, hatchplan.com, started in 2008. The domain was registered with bluehost. We have been paying around $8/month ($190/year) for “hosting”. This site has custom CSS.
The second, sandwichplan.com, started in 2014. The domain was registered with godaddy. We pay around $15/year for this. Where is this site being hosted? This site does not have CSS.
Am i missing something? Do i need to be paying bluehost for hosting at all, rather than just paying them for domain registration?
thanks very much

Hi!
It looks like both sites are fully hosted at WordPress.com.
That means that you don’t need to pay Bluehost at all for hosting space.
However, your domains are not registered with WordPress.com.
One is registered with Bluehost (hatchplan.com), and the other with GoDaddy (sandwichplan.com).
This means that you have to pay this two companies yearly for your domain’s renewal and registration. That’s usually something between $10 to $20 per year, depending on the attached services like email forwarding or things like that.
All that said, you don’t need to pay Bluehost for hosting, you only need to pay them for domain registration and renewal, which is a yearly fee of about $15 USD.
Hope that clears up the confusion!
