Why am I receiving so many spam comments from Facebook profiles all of a sudden?

  Receiving numerous spam comments that are not getting picked up by the spam filters. All of the profiles are Facebook profiles. I’ve talked to other bloggers using WP and they have noted the same issue. I am marking them as spam when they come in but they are clearly spammy comments.

  Please keep marking them as spam. Akismet (our spam filter) will learn and adapt quickly.

  Akismet is not picking these up. I continue to mark them as spam and the comments continue to come in. How much time will it take for these to be picked up?

  Akismet is a learning engine, so it may take a while to catch on sometimes.

  If you can identify a safe trend (IOW, don’t blog facebook.com), you can add that to your blacklist at Settings -> Discussion in your blog’s Dashboard.
