Why are ads appearing on my website?

My account on wordpress.com has recently become riddled with ads. The posts on my blog are also filled with links that I did not put there. Can these ads and links be stopped and removed?

Most likely, we didn’t add those to your site either. I’m not seeing them myself.
My first thought is to check the add-ons and extensions for your browser. There are a number of extensions/add-ons that will add links to sites that you’re viewing to try to generate revenue for the developer of that add-on.
To see your list of extensions in Chrome, visit chrome://extensions or choose “Extensions” in the “Window” menu of Chrome.
