Why are all my recent posts except one showing up in italics?

Why are all my recent posts showing up in italics? The most recent post and the first half of the second most recent post are fine. The next 5 are in all italics. They weren’t like that when they were initially posted.
Is there a way to check for a hacker or a bug or…? What?

How did you post these? Just in the Posts > New Post editor? Did you cut and paste from another source or copy a post?

I suppose shame on me but I used the Blogsy app for iPad: it’s been working great since I installed it in early September, so I don’t really understand what has gone so strangely awry.
I appreciate any help you can give me.

Since we are constantly rolling out updates to our software, the Blogsy app may be currently configured for the old configuration.
I have heard of other users having some minor issues (if you consider many italics post “minor”) using Blogsy, but as they reported the issue to Blogsy, they were very responsive and deployed fixes quickly. So I would recommend going ahead and making contact to report the bug you’re seeing.
To fix the posts, I recommend going into your blog not via the app and visiting your posts in the Edit Post page (switch to “text” from “visual”) and stripping out the unnecessary italics. Or you should also be able to do this in the visual editor by highlight the text and clicking on the Italic icon to remove it.
Let me know if you have a problem doing this and I’ll help you. I’m sorry we can’t do more!

Thank you so much for the help. I have trouble editing/correcting posts through WordPress with the editor on iPad, but I’ll contact Blogsy and see what happens.

Blogsy thinks it is a CSS setting in the theme. Is there a way to fix that? That seems odd since I’ve been using the same theme forever and this has never come up before. The italics are only on the home page; if you click and view a single post, all is right with the world. I just don’t understand what happened with the home page. I thought I could go in and repair CSS but it looks like if that is what it is, I need to upgrade to Custom. But, that still makes no sense since this problem just cropped up this week. The posts looked fine on the home page (even those that are now italicized) on Tuesday, but after that, not so much.

You shouldn’t have to buy the upgrade for something like that. But it doesn’t appear to be theme-related, because this is one of our most popular themes, and we don’t have millions of users reporting the same problem.
When I look at the “text” view on the post editor screen, I see a lot of Webkit-related code being injected into your post – and only on the parts of the posts that are italicized. I am not familiar with Blogsy, but can you set your font and style in the app before posting? There may be a conflict there.

I was looking at this with a few of my colleagues, and it looks like the HTML code is being changed to HTML entities. So where the code should read:
</ em>
It is instead sending as:
“/ em & gt; & lt;”
(I added spaces to those two bits of code so that they would render as code, btw).
Which obviously doesn’t work. I have no idea why that might be happening. My suggestion is to let the folks at Blogsy know, and see if they can track down any kind of bug. If you’re happy with Blogsy going forward, that’s fine. If you want to switch apps, we do recommend the WordPress app!
