Why are all of my images broken when I'm not logged in?

Dear Support. When I’m logged in, my site looks fine. But when not logged in, I’ve tried on 2 different browsers (Firefox and Chrome) all the images on my site are broken. My site is reynolds23.com … Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, David

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Howdy David!

It looks like you recently exported/imported content from skullranch.wordpress.com to reynolds23.wordpress.com. Is that correct?

The image URLs are still pointing back to the old blog (skullranch.wordpress.com). So, the images are actually being loaded from that site. It looks like the skullranch site is private, which makes the images private (not viewable) when you aren’t logged in.

I’m in the process of switching over the URLs so they pull the images from reynolds23.wordpress.com instead of the old site. I’ll let you know when this is complete!

    Hey David,

It looks like this issue occurs when the original blog (skullranch.wordpress.com in this case) is set to private before the importer finishes on the new blog (reynolds23.wordpress.com).

One quick fix would be to empty the new blog (reynolds23.wordpress.com), set the old blog back to public (skullranch.wordpress.com), and re-running the import. This will clear up the image issue.

Your site shouldn’t be down very long at all. As soon as you give me the go ahead, I can empty reynolds23.wordpress.com so you can re-run the import. Would you be okay with giving this a go?

Hi Jeremey. When I did the import I got an email that said the import was done, before I made skullranch.wordpress.com private. I think it was a few days before I made skullranch private. I might be wrong. But if you think will do the trick, I’m up for it. However I hate to lose my “likes” again.

    Hey David,

Thanks for allowing us to give this a go. I set your old site back to public, emptied your new site, and re-imported the content. Unfortunately, the source URLs are still pointed to your old blog. We’re taking another look at this to get it figured out.

I went ahead and set your old blog back to private and setup your header on your new blog again. Your likes and social sharing metrics should still be in place.

Thanks for your help. Are there any updates on this?

    Hey David,

No updates yet! I promise we’re working on it though. I’ll let you know as soon as I know more!

I just deleted all my images and re-uploaded them, then embeded them back in my posts. Everything is OK now.

I’m sorry for the hassle David. I’m glad you were able to get this worked out!
