Why are certain words suddenly hyperlinked to "a link by Surf City"?

  I was viewing my blog posts this morning and noticed certain items are attached to a link that I did not put in. In my post “Hi Tech Vs. Low Tech” I notice that when I cursor over the word ipad, it says “search link by Surf City”. I tried to edit it out but I can’t. I changed some words in another post “The Constant Princess” and it seemed to remove the link that was there.

  I do not want these links by Surf City….how do I get rid of them?

  All WordPress.com placed ads are easy to identify as this link accompanies them http://en.wordpress.com/about-these-ads/

  Any other ads you see are not placed on the blog by WordPress.com. They are coming from a browser extension or toolbar.   Wanting to help is cool. :)

  Searching to find the answers provided by the regular Volunteers who have been answering these question for years prior to posting is recommended. Helping over the long term requires a plan. Creating a private blog with your own correct answers and relevant links in it accumulated while spending 3 months or so lurking on the support forums is a very good plan.

  Thanks for your help. In the meantime, I went back in to edit the two posts with the unwelcome links. For the time being, the links have been eliminated.

  Timethief, I will review the links you provided regarding getting rid of unwanted ads, etc. when I have more time to focus. Thanks again!
