Why are colors faded on image widgets?

The colors are all faded out on my sidebar images since I switched to the Misty Lake theme a few days ago. I just purchased the custom design feature and I like the background very much. But the sidebar images are still washed out. Do I need to choose a different theme? I hope not, since I designed a custom header to fit this theme.

Hi there!
This is an effect of the theme. You’ll see the full color comes back when you mouse over the widget area. You can prevent this from happening by adding this code:
.widget-area, .entry-meta, .format-quote .entry-title, .format-quote .entry-title a, .format-aside .entry-title, .format-aside .entry-title a { opacity: 1 !important; }Let me know if I can help further!

Hi again, Shawna. I have another question. I set up a carousel of my book covers on the sidebar, but the images are quite small. Is it possible to make them bigger?

Unfortunately, the size of the images is constrained by the size of the slideshow as a whole and the width of the sidebar. You may want to look at using one of the other styles of galleries like Tiles or Squares.

Phooee! I don’t want to use tiles or squares. If the black frame around the pictures in the slideshow wasn’t so big, the slides themselves could be expanded. I suggest you bring this up to your design team.
Another thought, is it possible to expand the width of the sidebar and posting area, and would that enlarge the slideshow?

That would give the widget some more space, however that’s a more complicated change to make with CSS than I can really help you with.
