Why are comments already closed this Thursday morning for the photo challenge?

I’m very perplexed this morning as I just finished my weekly photo challenge post only to find the comments are closed. Pingbacks are not even allowed. Why is this? I don’t just throw a random post out there just to be published. I squeeze time in for thought and look for quality photos so I can put out a quality post for my readers. My photography and blog is probably the best hobby I have to get a break from a lot of responsibilities I carry. I was deeply disappointed this morning. An explanation would be appreciated. I’m sure I’m not alone on this.

I asked because that’s where my question got directed. I did not
ask the Daily Post because it states to not use them for support questions. -
