Why are deleted pages gone permanently and cannot reuse the same URL?
-
Hi everyone.
Could anyone provide context to why deleted pages cannot be reopened or have the same URL be recycled? Example.wordpress.com got deleted by the original authors and if someone else wants to use Example.wordpress.com, they’re not allowed to.

Hi deformedmagicuser,
The Recycling Blog Addresses (URLs) has a nice explanation about that topic.

Hi there! One way of looking at it is for protection. As it says in the Support documentation about Recycling Blog Addresses:
Imagine you have a blog for a while, but then decide to delete it for personal reasons. We then let someone else take over the name. A year later you get an angry phone call from a friend or relative who has clicked on an old bookmark, reads something offensive, and thinks that it was published by you. This is why our policy will remain in place.
Sometimes this rule sucks, especially if you really want a deleted blog address. But, all things considered, I think this is actually best for everyone. :)

What if I contact the owner of the deleted blog URL to have it recycled and take ownership?
-
If you get permission from the owner to have it transferred to you, then I think you’re in luck.
-
So if I were to pay for a domain name to not have .wordpress.com, I can potentially still have the URL example.com instead of of the deleted example.wordpress.com?
-
You don’t need to worry about example.wordpress.com if you are going to have example.com as the main entry point to your site.
-
And if I were to delete example.wordpress.com and decide that I want to reopen it, I don’t suppose I am allowed to right?

Okay. That about wraps up my questions. Thank you for the awesome, quick support! I’m thinking of doing a blog and heard so much about WordPress.
