Why are my blogs copying each other?

    I tried to delete one of my blogs and now its not letting me access my account at all. It also copied one of my blogs onto the another log of mine with a different theme. Very confusing.

    By the way, I now cant access a blog of mine to delete it because it says the other blog i already deleted which copied itself isnt there. Its a different blog! UGH

    Hi Marty!

    First, I noticed you have submitted multiple requests for support. To keep our conversation organized, I’m going to respond to your questions here and close the other requests. Please keep all further correspondence in this thread.

    I believe the confusion here is arising from the two domains you have currently mapped to your WordPress.com blog. So, you have the blog mnschneider.wordpress.com at WordPress.com, which you have deleted. You also have the following domains mapped to the blog at WordPress.com:

    martynschneider.com
mnschneider.com

    However, those domains are not “pointed” to WordPress.com. When you have a domain, you have to tell it where to look on the internet for information. Those domains aren’t looking at WordPress.com (they’re looking at BlueHost).

    So, let’s first establish what you’re looking to do. Can you answer the following questions so I can determine how we want to proceed?

    • Are you trying to setup a self-hosted site or a site at WordPress.com?
    • Would you like the domains to both show the same site or are you trying to set up two different sites?

    Once I know the answer to those questions, I’ll be able to help more!

    Hey,

    Yes, I am trying to start a self-hosted site. I now am aware of the difference between .org and .com.

    I am trying to set up one site with a custom theme that is not from the WordPress site. mnschneider.com is the only site that needs to exist. I would like to cancel and refund the URL mapping/linking from my wordpress.com account. Unfortunately when I try to do this, it tells me that my mnschneider.wordpress.com site is no longer available and I get stuck.

    Hi Marty,

    I went ahead and cancelled the domain mapping for both domains and fully refunded both purchases. Please allow several days before the funds area available at your account.

    Going forward, you will need to follow the instructions at your hosting service to setup and install WordPress.org software on your domain. Then, you can connect your self-hosted site to your WordPress.com account through Jetpack as described here:
