Why are my chosen widgets not appearing on my site?

  I was browsing through some theme options, I accidentally pressed ‘Activate”, when I meant ‘Preview” – when I went back to my previous theme, all the settings got lost, and when I was trying to ‘re-build’ all my previous settings, including the Widgets i.e., archives, RSS, categories, etc. these do not register on my site. What has happened here and how can I put back all my selected widgets?
