Why are my comments on other blogs sometimes not accepted?

  Why are my comments on other blogs sometimes not accepted?
  Frequently, when I attempt to leave a comment on another blog post, I get a message “Sorry this comment could not be posted”. Sometimes this happens on blogs where I regularly post comments, and then another time my comment will get posted. (My comments do not contain swearing or anything vulgar.)

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there,

  Sometimes, browser issues can cause a problem where it doesn’t recognize that you’re logged in to your account, and so your comments can’t be posted. This is usually because third party cookies aren’t enabled in the browser. You can check your third party cookies settings and learn more about them here: Preview Problems and Third Party Cookies

  If you have third party cookies enabled and you’re still having trouble with this, please let me know! If you can include a few examples of sites where you’ve had trouble posting comments, that will also help me investigate this for you. :)

  Thanks for the quick response Rachel. Prior to posting my question, I had attempted to leave a comment on shamanictracker, without success. Later I was able to leave my comment without a problem, yet I did not change the settings or anything. This problem has been ongoing for a while now but I am reluctant to change the cookies setting…I like it the way it is now. Should I let you know when this happens again?

  The kind of behavior you mentioned (having trouble the first time you try to comment and then being able to comment later) is consistent with the cookie settings I mentioned. If you don’t change those settings, you may continue to experience this issue and there isn’t much more I can do to help.

  If you enable third party cookies and still have trouble, do let me know and I can find out if something more is contributing to the problem.

  No, I don’t have third party cookies enabled…only first party.
