Why are my followers not receiving email notifications of my posts anymore?

  I realize that now when I follow someone it goes to my reader. So I assume everyone is experiencing the same thing where prevously they would receive email notifications… I have had a few readers tell me that they have not been seeing my notifications anymore. They are still following and only when they click my link is when they see I have updated my page. Which leads me wonder…. why is wordpress sending all of our followers to the reader automatically? I dont mean to sound accusatory but, I am small blog and I rely on my followers to get my email notifications. I dont think the default should be automatically follow your blog on the reader. I know I cant lookat my reader all day just reading blog posts at work. So I need to get emails to know when they post. I also feel that the reader sould decide if viewing the post on reader or on email is the way for them. Not everyone is a full time blogger who deidcates themselves to be logged on to use the reader and catch up on their blogs. If that was the case, atleast Bloglovin sends me email notification once aday that my favorite blogs have updated their pages. I think its unfair to the smaller blogs who rely on their readers getting their notifications. I cant be the only one experiencing this. I could be wrong about this, but I highly doubt it.

  We aren’t sending anyone to the Reader automatically. When you follow a blog, you are automatically subscribed via the Reader by default, and you can choose to receive the posts via email.

  Please check http://wordpress.com/#!/read/edit/ to see if you’re subscribed via email.

  Also, check http://wordpress.com/#!/read/subsettings/ to make sure that you aren’t blocking emails from us.

  As for your blog, you have 22 email followers, and I can’t see any reason why they wouldn’t have received your most recent post. Some may have gone into the spam folder, and we really have no control over that.

  Hi macmanx,

  When I first started with WordPress about, six months ago, when I followed blogs on WordPress, I would receive an email notification confirming my subscription. And I would receive emails and still do from some of the older ones I follow when they update. But as of late any new person I follow, I don’t get any email notifications and they appear on my reader..So something has changed. I was not talking about my email followers, they receive my emails.. I am talking about my followers who have WordPress but are all of a sudden not receiving my notifications and its not ok their spam and have said for some reason they can’t see it. And I know.other bloggers who are having the same issue.

  But if you say that we can adjust those settings on a reader then ok. I will send a msg on my blog regarding adjusting their settings… to subscribe
