Why are my new subscribers not showing up on my blog count?
-
Hi.
I have my website set up as ShiftingGearsTheJourney.com using the Vantage theme (which is great) except that I was not happy with the blog features. So I created a blog page which I set up as ShiftingGearsTheJourney.wordpress.com and linked it to my blog page on my original website. I was unable to transfer subscribers from the original website to the new blog web address, and so I had to start over with subscribers. However, I’ve had lots of new subscribers since over the past months and they are not showing up on my blog follower count (currently it says 159 and has not changed for months). Yet I keep getting email notices with new subscribers. Could it be that these new subscribers are subscribing to the original website, and thus, not actually following my blog since only the blog subscribers get notified when I post? I took off all the subscriber buttons on all the other pages of my original website and inserted instead a widget that leads them to my blog page to sign up where the follower sign-up button is located. So I really need to figure out what’s going on because I have new subscribers that are not showing up. Can you help solve this mystery? Thank you so much in advance! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Your wordpress.com subscribers to http://langsinmiddleearth.wordpress.com/ are found here
https://wordpress.com/my-stats/?blog_subscribers
Note that the title there includes Publicize followers from social networks. https://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/Your email only subscribers are here https://wordpress.com/my-stats/?blog_subscribers&type=email
If you still have an issue you can type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help and provide the wordpress.com usernames and/or mail addresses that are missing here. The software will redact or hide all the email addresses and only Staff will be able to see them.

Thank you, but about 100 new subscribers are not showing up when I went to the areas you outlined above. So I definitely have a problem and have no idea where on my website my new subscribers are going. But they are not getting my Blog notices. I only have 8 email addresses on my wordpress.com blog site, but have over 100 that aren’t on there. Please advise. Thx!

Where should I type in the mail addresses of my new subscribers so only staff can see them?

From what email address do those emails come? Any notification of subscriptions to your WordPress.com site would come from (email visible only to moderators and staff) AND you would also see a notification in the admin bar at the top of the screen. Unless both those conditions are true, those notifications were not sent from WordPress.com
I checked the email logs for your account, and we have not sent any new subscriber notifications to your email address in the past two weeks, so those emails are most likely coming from people subscribing to your old blog. Can you please check your old site’s subscriptions to confirm?
Thanks.

Thank you for your response. How can they be people subscribing to the old blog when there is nowhere on my site for them to subscribe to the old blog? I have had over 100 new subscribers since spring after I took the old blog down and put up the new blog using a wordpress.com follower/subscriber button. I have looked at my site and cannot find anywhere they can sign up using the old website subscriber info. All my widgets direct them to the new blog page where they can sign up. However, the emails DO appear as if they’re coming from the old blog, but I don’t know how to stop this from happening since I cannot figure out why it is happening. And, in addition, now I have over 100 subscribers who cannot be transferred to my wordpress.com blog which is a big loss. Not sure what to do. Is my only option (since I only have 8 followers on my wordpress.com account) to go back to using the Vantage Theme’s Blog page that the rest of my website is built in (even though I don’t like the features) just so I can reach all my followers? Or should I change my whole website to a different template that has better blog features and eliminate the blog page that has the wordpress.com link?

Those subscription emails are definitely coming from your old site. I really can’t explain how people are still subscribing to that site, as I don’t see a subscription option there either, and don’t have access to the admin area to check what might be going on there. Have you tried contacting your web host about this? They should be better able to explain this as they can see your old site’s admin area.
If you want your site to be on WordPress.com, I’d suggest you take the old site offline completely (make sure to export a backup of it before you do). Then map that domain to your WordPress.com site, which means your WordPress.com site will then appear at that domain. This will mean you’ll likely lose the new subscribers, but going forward anyone who clicks on the old site’s address will see the new site instead.
You can read more about the domain mapping upgrade here:

Penscratch Theme
I want to change my website ShiftingGearsTheJourney.com from Vantage to Penscratch as I love the blog features on Penscratch. But I need to be able to have a static page for home page with one big photo that never changes, the blog on its own blog page with posts, and also I need to be able to have photo galleries. Is this all possible with Penscratch? When I did a Live Preview, it seemed my galleries no longer functioned. Thank you in advance. -

Do NOT hijack threads and post off topic into them. I already answered you here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/penscratch-theme-question?replies=2#post-2523460 My answer is correct. Return to that thread and do as I indicated there please. -
I did not mean to post on another thread. It was an accident. I did not know how to undo it. I apologize for the confusion. Just an amateur trying to figure out how to do my own website/blog.

We all make mistakes :)
To avoid further confusion I’m closing this thread, but feel free to start a new one if you still need help with the original problem, or post in the other thread if you have more questions there.
