Why are my pictures disappearing?

I am adding a new gallery and my pictures keep disappearing once I publish the post. The pictures are still in my library, but all I can see are red X’s:

If I click on one of the pics, I get a blank browser window. The image doesn’t load. I see the thumbnails in the gallery just fine.

The first time I opened the page I saw no images.
The second time, I saw one, on the far right hand side of the top row. The rest were just clickable filenames. If I clicked one, I got to a blank page with the text of the URL in it, like http://whatever.wordpress.com/date/filename.jpg
This time, all the images are coming up.
From this and other reported problems around WP.com, I would assume there was a problem with some of their image servers.

Yeah, I’m getting that too, once in a while I’ll see an image, but when I refresh it it’s gone. Right click>view brings up a blank page.

I have this happening too – post the image as I write, it is there, but when I go to read the blog, big empty frames where the photos should be. Very annoying, trashed a full post earlier today in frustration, and it is still happening.
Support people – Please fix it.

We won’t be able to help you, or even confirm this is the same problem, unless you provide the URL of your blog.

It seems to be better – but then some text and the custom header vanished. I have reloaded my header. Let’s hope it all stays where it should.

I’ve tagged this thread for staff and hopefully they will see it. Others are reporting image issues as well.

We’ve identified the cause of this issue and are working right now to fix it. It should be taken care of soon.

My pictures upload, appear in the media library but do not publish. In Firefox, the header and all the posted pictures do not publish. In IE, the header and previously posted pictures appear, but I can’t post any new ones.
I see where the date was Septt on this thread. Is anyone else having the same problems now?

I’m back again. I was able to repost the header and today’s picture but then I went to earlier posts and noticed all the other pictures have disappeared. They are in the media library but do not publish, in Firefox.

weird one for you, on my blog I have lost half my pics when I am on my laptop and 2/3 rds of my pics when on my desktop, read somewhere that it may be because I cleared my media section, so I have reuploaded the pics but nothing has happened as yet,

You can’t just reupload them with the same filenames. You will need to change the file names of the pictures THEN re-upload them. And do not ever delete pictures you’re using from your media library.
