Why are my tags labeled spam?

I cannot figure out how to manage tags and categories. At the moment I have two problems. My dashboard says I have 1 post: approved; 8 categories: pending and tags: Spam.

I read on the forum somewhere that you are only allowed a total of 12 tags/categories per post. On this one I had one category and 10 tags. I tried to remove two tags by clicking on the x, and then saving the post. The tags seemed to go away, but the number on the dashboard did not change, and it still says Spam. (which by my count, it wasn’t to start out with).

Secondly, I wanted to change my categories to nest some under others in a hierarchy, but can’t figure out how to delete ones I already have there and refile them under a parent. Example, I want two main categories: Destinations and Books, with countries/cities under Destinations and titles listed under books for my blog entitled A Traveler’s Library. http://www.atravelerslibrary.com

So, how do I manage the categories and tags? And how do I get them accepted by whatever gods are judging them?

I don’t see any posts on your blog at all. And since you have no posts, the categories aren’t showing, either. (They won’t show until you put something in them.)

You should be able to delete the categories by going into posts > categories in your dashboard.

One more thing: YOU manage your categories and tags, not anyone else.

And they do not have to be approved by anyone either.

If you only want to assign a category to a parent, you don’t delete it: you just go to Posts>Categories, click on category name, select parent, click Update.

Okay, if nobody has to approve them, then how come in my dashboard, it says 1 post approved; categories pending and tags SPAM? I could understand categories pending since I have not yet published the draft post to which I was assigning categories, but why would it say SPAM on the tags?

Thanks for the help on managing the categories, by the way.

I realize I have not published the post, but the categories and tags do(or should) show up on the draft and preview.

Hmmm, I uploaded a picture and that lace doily is still showing up. Guess I need another thread for that.

No, the tags and categories will not show until they are assigned to a post and that post has been published.

If they did, then if someone clicked on the tag or category, what would they see? Nothing. They would get a 404 page not found error since there is nothing in that tag or category that has been published.

As far as your blog is concerned, until you publish a post it does not exist.
