Why are my views as an administrator showing in the statistics?

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m setting up a new blog. I added myself and another person each as administrators. Now whenever either of us access the blog (we are signed into WordPress), the visits and views are counted in the statistics.
What do I need to do to ensure the statistics are not skewed by our visits?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Gail,

Please note that administrator views when logged in are not counted in your views stats as seen here:

    Jetpack Stats

Let me know if you have any questions with this!

    Hi Grace,
    Thanks for your reply.
I can see in the statistics that my views are showing so I’m wondering if there is something that I’m doing wrong. I’m logged in via gailr11 and I have access to make changes to the site as an owner and administrator would so I’m confused as to why the views would be counted.
Any thoughts on what might be going wrong?

Can you show me where it is stating that they are coming from your account? I’m not aware of views stating the owner of the view. Let me know and I’d be happy to take a look!

Thanks Grace. That’s right it’s not stating that it’s me. However, the site is not public yet and as I’m working on the site today, I can see the view count growing in the stats bar and located in my country. It happened last week too when we did some work on developing the site.
Are you able to have a look?

Ah, your site is private! Okay that makes a lot more sense now. For private sites, all logged in views are counted. Once it goes public, logged in views will not be counted.

    Cheers!
