Why are my widgets only showing up as footers, not in the sidebar?

  I’d like my widgets to show up in the sidebar, but the only option seems to be to add them as footers. Can I change this?

  Hi there,

  Please note that widget placement is dependent on the theme. Currently, your theme (Book-lite) only offers Footer widgets as seen here:

  https://wordpress.com/themes/book-lite/

  If a sidebar is a necessity for you, it would be best to look into another theme:

  https://wordpress.com/themes/search/sidebar/

  Please read over the support guide of the theme you choose to make sure widgets can be placed in the sidebar.
