Why are people being made to login to comment?

    Why are people being made to login to comment, when I have not ticked the “Users must be registered and logged in to comment” box under “Other comment settings”. This should be my decision.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    The new (ish) WordPress commenting procedure offers three ways to comment:

    1. Log in using your WordPress or Gravatar account, or;
    2. Log in using your Facebook / Twitter account, or;
    3. Use the generic comment form, with or without an email address.

    From what I see on your blog, people who do not have a WordPress / Twitter / Facebook account (or want to use them to comment) are being asked for an email address, a name and a URL — which is optional.

    The email address they leave cannot be one associated with a WordPress or Gravatar account — it can be, literally, anything else. Including fake. Ditto for the name, it can be an Internet pseudonym or their real name.
