Why are people unable to comment to my blog post?

  People are unable to post comments to my blog. Another WordPress blogger is complaining of the same issue. Please fix it. Also, my blog has been inundated with spam these last few weeks. WordPress need to improve their spam filters.

  Hi there,

  Can you let us know a bit more information about what happens when people try to comment on your blog? For us to troubleshoot this issue, it would help to know exactly what steps they take and whether they receive any error messages. Also, are you having any trouble commenting on your blog or is it only specific visitors?

  If a lot of the spam comments you receive have a common string of text, I suggest adding that string to your blacklist:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/#comment-blacklist

  You can use the comment author’s name, IP address, web site, as well as the comment itself. Please make sure the word is not something contained in non-spam comments. For example, if you enter “press” as a blacklisted word, “WordPress” will match.

  Also, please be sure to mark those comments as spam. Our Akismet anti-spam engine tries to learn from a pattern of the comments that are marked as spam, so that future spam comments will be sent straight to the spam folder.
