Why are photos from blog now missized on Facebook?

  I have the ‘publicize on facebook’ setting checked in the editor, and up until about two weeks ago everything worked fine. Now, all of a sudden, the photos that are showing up on my news feed in Facebook are displayed with a thick black border on top and bottom as if they aren’t sized correctly. Nothing has been changed on my end as far as settings go.

  Has anyone else experienced this? Or have any suggestions on what has happened or how it can be corrected?

  The black borders are supposed to be added to make photos that are slightly too small to show up on Facebook work correctly. If you are seeing borders on photos that are large enough on their own, that’s a bug. Could you send me a link to a post you publicized that showed up on Facebook with the boarders? A screenshot of what you are seeing on Facebook would also be helpful. Here’s info on how to make a screenshot

  Hi Liz,

  I’ve uploaded two screen shots to my media library. The one titled Facebook image2 shows the way these used to show up in Facebook. The one title CSC0071 shows the way they are showing up now.

  As I mentioned, to the best of my knowledge, I haven’t changed anything when I post. I always size them large and center them in my blog post.

  One thing I did just now notice is that on the later ones that are showing up with the black borders the actual hyperlink is shown up above the photo. In the ones that were displaying without the border just the blog title is shown, no hyperlink. Curious, huh?

  Hope you can get it sorted out for me cause I really don’t like my photos having those borders.

  Thanks for the extra details. We made a change to how publicize displays photos, and the borders you see on images that are sized correctly is a bug resulting from that change. We are working on it, so your images won’t appear that way for long. In the meantime, if you use images that are closer to square you won’t see the lines. I’ll let you know when the issue has been fixed.

  Adding the hyperlink was another part of the update. Facebook doesn’t always provide an easy way for your readers to get back to your site, so that was added to make sure your readers can see your full post.
