Why are some of the photo previews not displaying on the main page?

Some of the previews of my photos aren’t displaying on the main page, but they are displaying on the individual posts. I’m not having this problem with the newer posts, just the older posts.

Hi there. I scrolled through quite a bit of your archive, all the way back to 2012, and I don’t see any posts that don’t show a picture with the preview. It could be that they’re just taking a while to load for you. If there are posts for which the image doesn’t appear at all, make sure you’ve selected a featured image for those.

Starting at around July 2012, there’s one on that page (Transformers), that doesn’t show in the monthly page, but it’s there when I go to the individual post. Is it a sizing issue?
The further down you go, it gets worse. June 2012, most of the thumbnails aren’t showing up, even though the image is there in the individual post. -
Then I stopped scrolling just before where the problem starts :)
It could be the image size, yes. The post thumbnails for your theme are 470 pixels wide so it could be that images narrower than that aren’t used for the post thumbnail, even if they’re set as the featured image. I checked a few of the images in the posts where they don’t display and they’re all smaller than 470 pixels.
Note, this refers to the size of the uploaded image. The size at which you insert it into the post should not matter in this case.

I just tried swapping out one of them, the first one that goes bad. The Heroes of Telmark, Feb 1 2012.
I’ve changed the photo 3 times, the last two times were definitely above 475 pixels, and it still doesn’t show.

Hi there,
Try setting a Featured Image for those posts. It states in the Oxygen theme:
Featured Images appear in the featured slider in the Showcase Page template, or as a post thumbnail in your list of Recent Articles. Post thumbnails are 470 pixels wide

Glad it worked out! Normally you should always use a featured image for the preview in the Oxygen theme. Sometimes it will find the first image, but not all the time.
