Why Are Stats Wrong

    The WordPress Stats seem to be very inaccurate.

    For example, my stats for blog jejunejournal.wordpress.com show 1 visitor and one view between 2/15 and 2/21. Within that same time period however I have been e-mailed 18-“Like” notices and at least 1 new subscriber notice and god-knows how many actual “views” there were because views are not e-mailed. Clearly there is a complete disconnect between that stats-page and reality. I’ve done a quick browse through the support forums and apparently this is a widespread gripe, but I haven’t seen a resolution in these posts. This is also clearly a collection issue and not a display issue because the same inaccurate view is shown on numerous platforms and numerous browsers.
    Wazup?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    I just found the same problem, although in a minor scale. Accordingly to the stats I had zero visits yesterday, but I do have a “following” and “like” report from yesterday.

    Well, people can “like” your posts and “follow blog” from the Reader, without visiting the page. So, that could be why there’s a discrepancy.

    Really? But how? I didn’t mention but there was also a reblogging, can it also be done without visiting the blog?

    I think that “liking” and “following” from the Reader-page is unlikely, since you can only see a couple of sentences from there. Unless you mean that opening a post from the Reader will not count in the stats. If that is the case then the “stats” are worthless and should not even be offered (IMHO).

    @Papaleguas—yes, reblogging can be done from Reader.

    @jrdpawpblog
    —it’s definitely doable, though it’s not my favorite WordPress feature :/ I would think opening it from Reader will count as a visit and view, because you’re going to the site.
