Why are tacky adverts appearing in my dashboard?

  Adverts have suddenly started to appear in my dashboad.. these are incredibly annoying and intrusive and do not relate to me at all – the first one was a sex add to get Asian women – how dare you send me this type of ad?? they are appearing everywhere – top and bottom and i find it hard to focus on my actual work!!! – Please explain why this is happening… – very very unhappy (long time) customer

  We do occasionally run ads in order to keep free services free. However ads of the nature you describe are not permitted in our advertiser’s network.

  Please note that it’s possible for ads to appear in your browser that were *not* placed there by WordPress.com. These ads are sometimes caused by malware or a virus on your PC, but more often it is due to a browser extension or toolbar that you may have installed in your browser.
