Why are the stats on my blog not adding up correctly?

For a long time, the stats on my blog are not adding up correctly. For example, on April 6 I had several people view my blog site and I received a notification that as many as 13 people liked my posting. But when I go to my stats page, it shows I only had one viewer who looked at only one page on that day. What is happening that these two things are not connecting?

Likes and shares are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can “like” and “share” your posts in several locations such as in email and the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat.

Consider this please: If you provide full posts in your feed then what incentive is there for any readers to click into the blog and create a page view stats?

Our stats are not real time stats. The data is cached and takes hours to update. See here for more on stats > http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/

I understand the stats are not real time. But we are now on day three and the stats have not updated. I find it very misleading when I can see in my notifications that 15 people liked a post on a certain day, but my stats indicate that on that particular day I had only one viewer who only viewed one page. There is something very wrong with that. And it’s disappointing. If stats are to be offered, then they should be more accurate and less misleading. If there is something I can do on my end, please let me know. I’ve cleared my cache and tried other browsers. Very disappointed!

If you look at the first paragraph of TT’s response, I think you have your answer. You have a high ratio of readers who’ve subscribed to your blog, and they dont’ count as Views even though they can Like things.
