Why are there advertisements on my blog?

  I often share my blog posts on my facebook fan page. It recently came to my attention that when someone accesses my blog from my facebook page link, there is an advertisement on my blog that I did not put there and I want it gone! One was for a diabetes foundation, another was for Pottery Barn! Is this a new way that WordPress is trying to make money? I really do not want anyone advertising on my blog. Please tell me how I can stop this!
