Why are there still ads on my blog after I've paid for the "No Ads" upgrade?

  • Unknown's avatar

I paid for the yearly “No Ads” upgrade 10 days ago, and just checked my blog in the IE 9 browser (I have adblock installed in Firefox and Chrome and so can’t see them normally), and it looks like there are still ads appearing on my blog. I cleared the cache and cookies, reopened the browser, and the ads are still present. I’ve taken screenshots if you need them.

Please let me know if this can be fixed asap.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

Please do submit screenshots as everything is set correctly to not display ads on your site. You can upload them to your site’s media library ( https://kingzoko.wordpress.com/wp-admin/media-new.php )

Once you’ve done so, please let me know and we can figure out what’s going on. Cheers!

    Hi –

    Thanks for responding quickly.
I just uploaded the screenshots to my media library (there are 3 of them: “zokomonium_ads in IE_[date]”). I double-checked in IE again today to make sure the issue was still occurring, and it is (see screenshot marked “…_Sept 19”).

Let me know if there’s any more information you need.

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

Those ads are being added to your site by a browser extension. Depending on your version of IE, you can disable add-ons by following these instructions: http://windows.microsoft.com/is-is/internet-explorer/manage-add-ons#ie=ie-10

If you notice in the screenshot, by the two ads on either side of your content, there is a small disclaimer saying “Ads not by this site”.

WordPress.com never places in-text ads like that and the ones we do place (image/video, typically after the post) includes an “About these ads” link to our support doc.

Of course, in your case, your site wouldn’t have them since you have purchased the upgrade.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or need anything else. Cheers!

Oh, that makes sense, thanks for explaining the distinction. I must have inadvertently downloaded that extension along with something else a while ago.

Thanks again for your quick help.
