Why are WordPress blogs not making it through my e-mail?

  • Unknown's avatar

I use Mozilla. I see WordPress items, my own and others, pop up as though incoming but then they do not appear on the inbox list. A few minutes ago Away Point indicated it was coming in, but it didn’t. Any suggestions?

    Howdy!

I’m happy to look into this for you. Please see this troubleshooting guide for email notifications:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-notifications/#what-if-the-emails-are-not-getting-through

It sounds like the notification emails may be getting sent to a filter or to the spam/trash folder in your email inbox. Can you try searching, or checking all the folders in your inbox to see if you can find the emails?

If you still can’t find them, please send the URL to a particular post that you should have received a notification for, and I’ll run some tests.

    Cheers,
    Caroline

Caroline, I’ve been observing instead of responding and material seems to be coming through correctly now. Maybe I was nuts. But what is happening is that my own blog and others come through as though FROM “Interesting Literature” a valid and indeed interesting WPress blog to which I do subscribe. I must be screwing something up.
    Cheers,
    Munroe

  • Hi Munroe – I’m glad things are working better now. “From” line behaviour can vary from email program to email program. Sometimes it picks up a name from your contact list/address book that may not seem logical. If you’d like to troubleshoot this further, let me know. You could try looking in your contact list/address book for the name “Interesting Literature” and see if it’s somehow associated with the same email address the updates for your own blog are coming from. If you try deleting the email address from your contact list it may help.

Thanks. A blog had just come in masquerading as from Interesting Literature but had not been opened. I found Int Lit in my address book and deleted it — bingo, suddenly the new blog showed the correct source. Many thanks.

  • You’re very welcome. Happy blogging!
