Why aren't all my followers listed?
-
Based on the notifications from WordPress, I now have (as of this writing) 17 or 18 people following my new blog. But only 11 are listed on my stats page. Why is this? Some people who signed up to follow yesterday are not listed, while some who signed up just this morning are listed. Where are the missing followers?
And yes, I did click on “view all.” Still only 11.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I think I just found my own error here, not having realized at first that followers are listed in two groups — those following via WordPress and those following via email notification.
However — I see two people listed as following via WordPress who I am pretty sure do not have their own WordPress blogs. So how are they following me via WordPress and should I alert them to change the way they have signed up? -
Hey there Rhea!
You are correct — the followers are divided in your Stats by the manner in which they’ve chosen to follow your site. Even if they don’t have blogs, they can still follow your site. This isn’t an error, necessarily. Some folks choose to get email notifications, some follow WordPress.com sites in a Reader (either ours, or an outside RSS feed reader), and other still simply follow a site to support it, but have opted not to receive notifications.
I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

Thanks! I also realized, through trial and error, that there are two different “follow” buttons among the widgets. The one I was using at first seemed geared only for existing WordPress users and hence was flummoxing some of my friends who tried to sign up to follow me. The other one (that I am using now) can be used by WordPress bloggers and also more easily allows anyone not on WP to sign up for email notifications. Unfortunately, the explanatory text that goes with the widgets does not make that distinction particularly clear to someone who is new at this. Maybe you can fix that? Thanks again for getting back to me.

Hi Rhea,
It appears as if you have managed to edit this text on your own. It is customizable within your Follow Blog widget. If you have further questions about this at all, please do let me know, or refer to this document:

Many thanks to you!
